Carrier’s Aquaforce® Water-Cooled Chiller Offers Efficiency, Reliability and Market-Leading Flexi

March 04, 2009

MONTLUEL, France, 4th March 2009 — Carrier Corp. has launched Aquaforce® 30XW, a new generation of water-cooled liquid chillers, with 27 models from 400kW-1800 kW (115 tons - 515 tons). Carrier is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

In 2006, with the original launch of the Aquaforce air-cooled chillers, Carrier created a whole new category of energy-efficient chillers. Now the company expands this concept into the water-cooled chiller market.  With its high efficiency design, Aquaforce chillers adapt to a wide range of applications and customer requirements, while satisfying the different needs of each market segment — heating, air-conditioning and industrial. The Aquaforce 30XW offers flexible, energy-efficient solutions for commercial building owners.

Environmental and Energy Efficiency

“The launch of the Aquaforce chillers reinforces Carrier’s position as a world leader in environmentally responsible commercial heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) solutions,” said Kelly Romano, president, Carrier Building Systems and Services. “Its innovative design uses Carrier’s latest screw compressor technology employing the environmentally sound refrigerant, non-ozone depleting, R134a.”

The Aquaforce chiller is more affordable to operate, reduces building energy consumption and is up to 20 percent more efficient than its predecessors. As green building designs demand ever more efficient HVAC systems, Aquaforce chillers are an ideal option because they exceed current Eurovent Energy Efficiency Class A standards of a full-load EER of 5.1. The Aquaforce chillers exceed this with EERs up to 6.2. The Aquaforce chiller offers part-load efficiency up to 8.1 ESEER.
Finally, to reduce the complexities of on-site installation, the Aquaforce chiller offers numerous factory-installed options including configuration for reversing water connections, single or dual-power supplies and disassembled delivery.

Global Strength

“Carrier uses its global resources to achieve world-class reliability and manufacturing,” commented David Appel, president, Carrier Building Systems and Services Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Aquaforce chillers are yet another example of Carrier’s leadership in offering global products while still providing customized features to meet the requirements of commercial building owners.”

Aquaforce chillers will be manufactured at three Carrier factories located in the United States, France and China.
